Artist Statement

Georgina Zafeiri is a contemporary artist based in Woodbridge. She has a Master of Arts in Drawing and is a qualified International Mountain Leader. She was born in Bury St Edmunds and has also recently lived in Switzerland. Georgina’s latest artworks explore how she is intrinsically bound to the landscape both as an artist and mountain leader.
“I love adventure and to explore, watch the changing colour of the sunset every day, walk in the wind at the beach. I enjoy the sense of freedom that the outdoors gives me. I like a challenge in the mountains and to take the route that I know will be hard. I think deeply about the ancient paths that I am taking across the landscape and who might have taken them before me. I am interested also in environmental issues, in particular our water usage and the construction of new buildings in areas of natural beauty.
Recently I have taken inspiration from the landscape paintings of Alexander Perrier, Ferdinand Hodler, Edvard Munch and Louis Amalvy. I like bright, dreamy colours even though they may not always be realistic and are quite abstract. Instead I’m trying to give you an essence of what I feel when I’m in nature. I am a versatile artist and like to try out new media, whilst drawing is my specialism I am very happy to use paints, collage, textiles and any other medium that is appropriate to express my emotions.”

Georgina Zafeiri est une artiste contemporaine basée à Woodbridge. Titulaire d'un master en dessin, elle est également accompagnatrice en montagne internationale. Née à Bury St Edmunds, elle a récemment vécu en Suisse. Ses dernières œuvres explorent son lien profond avec le paysage, en tant qu'artiste et accompagnatrice en montagne.
"J'aime l'aventure et explorer, admirer chaque jour les couleurs changeantes du coucher de soleil, me promener au vent sur la plage. J'apprécie le sentiment de liberté que me procure le plein air. J'aime les défis en montagne et emprunter des chemins que je sais difficiles. Je médite profondément sur les sentiers anciens que j'emprunte à travers le paysage et sur ceux qui les ont peut-être empruntés avant moi. Je m'intéresse également aux questions environnementales, notamment à notre consommation d'eau et à la construction de nouveaux bâtiments dans des sites naturels magnifiques.
Récemment, je me suis inspiré des paysages d'Alexandre Perrier, Ferdinand Hodler, Edvard Munch et Louis Amalvy. J'aime les couleurs vives et oniriques, même si elles ne sont pas toujours réalistes et sont assez abstraites. J'essaie plutôt de vous transmettre l'essence de ce que je ressens en pleine nature. Artiste polyvalente, j'aime explorer de nouveaux supports. Bien que le dessin soit ma spécialité, j'utilise volontiers la peinture, le collage, les textiles et tout autre support approprié pour exprimer mes émotions."

IGeorgina Zafeiri ist eine zeitgenössische Künstlerin aus Woodbridge. Sie hat einen Master of Arts in Zeichnen und ist qualifizierte internationale Bergführerin. Sie wurde in Bury St. Edmunds geboren und lebte zuletzt in der Schweiz. Georginas neueste Kunstwerke zeigen, wie eng sie als Künstlerin und Bergführerin mit der Landschaft verbunden ist.
"Ich liebe Abenteuer und Entdeckungsreisen, beobachte täglich die wechselnden Farben des Sonnenuntergangs und spaziere im Wind am Strand. Ich genieße das Gefühl von Freiheit, das mir die Natur gibt. Ich mag Herausforderungen in den Bergen und gehe gerne Wege, von denen ich weiß, dass sie schwierig sein werden. Ich denke intensiv über die alten Pfade nach, die ich durch die Landschaft wandle, und darüber, wer sie vor mir gegangen sein könnte. Ich interessiere mich auch für Umweltthemen, insbesondere für unseren Wasserverbrauch und den Bau neuer Gebäude in Naturschönheiten.
In letzter Zeit habe ich mich von den Landschaftsgemälden von Alexander Perrier, Ferdinand Hodler, Edvard Munch und Louis Amalvy inspirieren lassen. Ich mag leuchtende, verträumte Farben, auch wenn sie nicht immer realistisch und eher abstrakt sind. Stattdessen versuche ich, Ihnen eine Essenz meiner Gefühle in der Natur zu vermitteln. Ich bin ein vielseitiger Künstler und probiere gerne neue Medien aus. Obwohl das Zeichnen meine Spezialität ist, verwende ich sehr gerne Farben, Collagen, Textilien und jedes andere Medium, das sich eignet, um meine Gefühle auszudrück"
