What is an art class with Georgina Zafeiri like?
My classes are very relaxing. With small class sizes you will get plenty of attention and constructive feedback so that you can develop your skills. You will be surprised how much you will improve in a short space of time. I am a professional contemporary artist with a Master of Arts in Drawing so you will be learning with someone who has plenty of experience and someone who regularly exhibits her work. You can see my Biography here. I will always clearly demonstrate the work first whether it be a mark making exercise or simple drawing or painting, then you will have your turn. I am always open to questions and if you want to show me some work that you've done at home - no problem!
The mediums that I teach are pencil drawing, charcoal, soft and oil pastels, inks, gouache and watercolours. Occasionally if a class is ready for it we will use acrylic or oil paint. All materials are supplied at my classes but you are also welcome to bring your own.
I do not follow a set course plan as I always assess the needs of the class members as we go along and I aim to bring in inspirational props and images every week to draw and paint from. Mostly the topic lasts for 1 class but on occasion they go on for 2 classes and I will inform you if this is the case.
Classes generally run for a half term of 6 weeks however if you know can't make every class you can buy a block of 3 and "drop-in" when it's convenient. If this does not suit, please contact me about private lessons.
I am personable and many people have enjoyed my classes over the years. I strongly believe in the transitional power of art and its benefits for mental health and wellbeing. Most of all art and making art is my first love and I aspire to sharing my enthusiasm and skills with you! My classes are fun and therapeutic "me time" and you will also have the chance to chat about art and make friends!
